Fifteen years ago, I started my career in a veterinary medicine. I have spent most nights since then taking the calls families never want to make, doing the surgeries that decide whether a pet goes home, and sitting with people through the hardest moments of their lives.

That work changed how I think about pet healthcare.

I attended The Pennsylvania State University for Animal Bioscience, minored in Microbiology, and rode with the Equestrian Team. I spent the year after graduation  at Temple University studying Streptococcus Mutans and then went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania to receive my VDM in veterinary medicine. After graduation, I trained in equine sports medicine in Santa Ynez California working on high level performance horses before coming home to Pennsylvania. Emergency medicine became my calling. Surgery, critical care, and guiding families through the worst nights of their lives is the work I was built for.But somewhere along the way, I started seeing the same pattern over and over. Pets were arriving at my practice on supplements their vet had never heard of, and prescriptions filled through online pharmacies were taking three to five days longer to reach pets than they should. Records technically came back to the practice, but the workflow was so disjointed that owner communication broke down in the gap. Trust between veterinarians and pet parents was eroding, and patient outcomes were paying the price. 

That is why I built Paw & Pestle.

Paw & Pestle is the veterinarian's answer to the chaos of buying pet healthcare online. Every product on this site is vet-vetted. Every prescription runs through your veterinarian, the one who knows your pet best. There is a term in emergency medicine that most pet parents have never heard. It is called ‘financial euthanasia’. It is what happens when a pet has a treatable illness, a treatable injury, a real chance to go home with their family, and instead the family has to choose to put them to sleep because they cannot afford the bill. I have stood in those exam rooms. I have watched people kiss their dog goodbye over a number on a piece of paper. That is not medicine. That is a system that has failed the people it is supposed to serve. The Angel Fund is my answer and the reason I started this venture. A portion of every order on this site goes into emergency care grants for families who would otherwise have to choose. Because no one should have to.
